Termites FAQs Treatment & Control

I have found live termites (white ants), what should I do?

If you locate live termites (white ants) it is important that the workings are not disturbed until the method of management has been determined. Attempts to treat, repair or replace infested timber may cause the termites (white ants) to withdraw from the area and hinder the effective eradication of the termites. Damaged timber should only be replaced after the termites have been eradicated.

How much does it cost to have my house treated for termites (white ants)?

Costs vary widely, as there are many factors to take into account when treating a house for termites (white ants), i.e. the size and structure of the house, access and preparation etc. This is why we suggest you arrange a time for one of our experienced technicians to come out to your property to give an obligation free quote. There is no cost associated with this service.

Guardian Pest Control's trained technicians apply safe, modern termiticides when treating your property for pests. Please follow all directions regarding the time required to be away from your property to allow the pesticides to dry completely.

How often should I get my house treated against termites?

It depends on which chemical has been used to treat your property against termites as the life expectancy may vary. Generally speaking most chemicals will keep your property protected anywhere between 5-8 years providing the barrier has not been disturbed. It is strongly recommend that you continue to get annual termite inspections to ensure your property is termite free.

Is there a warranty on your treatment?

Treatments without limitations have a 12 month warranty period.

How can I prevent termites from entering my home?

Arrange to have your property professionally inspected annually by a licenced pest controller. Replace untreated timber garden surrounds or retaining walls with termite resistant materials. Eliminate sources of excess moisture such as faulty plumbing, leaks, or dampness caused by poor drainage. Rake garden beds away from structures to expose weep holes and the edge of concrete slabs. Remove any loose timber, trash and areas of direct wood to soil contact around your property. Remove any dead trees and stumps since they are nesting site for subterranean termites.
